Meet Lathan (@bassbuiltfitness)

Lathan’s fitness journey isn’t just professional — it’s deeply personal. Tipping the scales at over 100 pounds in first grade, he spent much of his childhood, teenage years, and college years overweight. Eventually, he decided he didn’t want that to define the rest of his life. So he changed it.

He lost 100 pounds — and never looked back.

That transformation didn’t just change his body; it changed his purpose. After having hundreds of conversations with people who want to lose weight but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, Lathan knew he wanted to be more than just another trainer. He became a coach to show what’s possible — and to help others build their own healthier, happier lives.

His training style? Action meets sports drama. As a lifelong athlete who still loves basketball, lifting heavy, and setting ambitious goals, Lathan brings intensity, structure, and competitive fire to every class. Right now, he’s chasing a 300+ bench press and an ultramarathon in the same year — because why pick just one challenge?

He’ll also be the first to tell you: lifting weights does not magically make you bulky. After 17+ years of lifting with the goal of building size, he’s proof that strength training builds confidence, resilience, and sustainable results — not accidental bodybuilder status.

Lathan believes fitness is a skill. If you’re willing to learn, grow, and put in the reps, you can accomplish more than you think. He values clients with a growth mindset and realistic expectations — because quick results don’t last. Sustainable methods create lasting change.

You can catch him teaching Monday through Thursday at 5:30 PM, bringing high energy, accountability, and maybe an extra 10 reps if Future comes on.

When he’s not coaching, you’ll find him lifting, running, playing basketball, reading, listening to podcasts, or enjoying time with friends.
